Handcrafted Fountain Pens Antique Silver Plating
Antiqued silver plated components have silver -colored plating that has been darkened to provide a “distressed” (oxidized) appearance. This usually gives the pen an aged matte look. Antique silver finish is formulated to simulate the sophisticated sheen of time-worn silver. The authentic patina and natural darkening brings out the details of the finish and creates a unique feel with a charm all its own.
Handmade Fountain Pens M3 Material
This material is made with as much as 85% of real metal that has been atomized down to a fine powder (on the molecular level) and combined with special chemical binders to form a new composite material called M3 (short for “Macro Molecular Material”). M3 is mostly used for its astounding structural properties but it is now being recognized for its remarkable beauty as well. The new metal has the same visual characteristics as the source metal with a surface hardness that will allow an unbelievable gem quality finish, yet it will turn on a wood lathe with standard wood-turning tools. This remarkable dense and stable material which will hold the finest of details down to a knife’s edge.
Real Damascus steel is a hot-forged steel used in Middle Eastern sword making from about 1100 to 1700AD. Damascus swords were of legendary sharpness and strength and were apocryphally claimed to be able to cut through lesser quality European swords and even rock. Damascus swords often had an obvious patterned texture on their surface due to the high carbon content and the folding and hammering of the blade.
